Checking the Math

 

Each year, many of our clients send us copies of their annual reconciliation statements. In one month alone, we received two statements that contained major math errors.

 

We contacted the landlord to discuss the issues. Not surprisingly, it took weeks before they returned our calls. Why is that?

 

Most tenants look at that bottom line and simply pay it because the letter they receive from the landlord looks pretty official. Don't let that fool you. Give it to your broker to look over. If he tells you to give it to your accountant or attorney, get another broker or engage a lease audit specialist to help. We have a list of the best to choose from.
